JUSTICE.  EQUALITY.  FAIRNESS.

“I am dedicated to serving families and children, both in the community and through the judicial system. I have practiced every area of family law, and I have viewed it from both the Judge’s perspective, as a Judicial Staff Attorney, and from the Lawyer’s perspective as the Lawyer.”

Meet Zackary “Zack” McKee

I am from Paris, KY where I graduated from Paris High School in 2005.  Growing up my mother was a single parent, who did not receive child support and was a victim of domestic violence. I graduated from the University of Louisville in 2010. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a concentration in law and Public Policy and minor in Philosophy. I then graduated from Brandeis School of Law in 2014.

While in law school I received a limited license to practice law and represented victims of domestic violence. As a law student, I also participated in the Case Project and represented victims of domestic violence in custody cases.

After graduating law school, I worked as a Judicial Staff Attorney for a Family Court Judge in Fayette County and then I worked as a Judicial Staff Attorney for a Family Court Judge in Jefferson County. Every judge in Kentucky gets to choose their own attorney to help them make decisions, type orders, conduct legal research, etc. So, I did that for two Family Court Judges.

I then opened my own practice in 2016. I am a court appointed Guardian ad litem (GAL). I represent children and parents accused of abusing or neglecting their children.  I am a Guardian Ad Litem for three (3) Judges in Jefferson County and two (2) Judges in Meade County and Breckenridge County.

I primarily practice Family Law which includes cases involving Divorce, Custody, Visitation, Grandparent Visitation, DeFacto Custody, Paternity, Domestic Violence (EPO/IPO), Dependency, Neglect, Abuse (DNA), Termination of Parental Rights (TPR), Adoption, Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (“ICPC”), UCCJEA and Petitions for Immediate Entitlement. I also serve as Friend of the Court (FOC), Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) and Mediator. I have an appellate practice doing Administrative Appeals and practicing before the Kentucky Court of Appeals and Kentucky Supreme Court. I also do Criminal Law, Personal Injury, Probate and practice in Federal Court. I am admitted to practice law in federal court, both the Eastern District and Western District. I am also admitted to practice in front of the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

I am a first-generation college graduate. I am a father of one son, and he is thirteen (13). I am a board member at Northeast YMCA and SPARC Hope. SPARC Hope is a program dedicated to helping single parents. I am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Incorporated and I attend Bates Memorial Baptist Church.
